As per recent WTO-SPS agreement maintenance of pest free environments termed "Pest Free Areas" needs to be given more impetus for gaining access to export and also in trade and commerce.
The DIPA act of 1914 is the regulating act in India for domestic quarantine, it is in place for restricting the movement of plant propagules and planting material that may spread the disease or cause pest damage to other areas of the country.
Examples of domestic quarantine in India :
1.Fluted scale (Icerya purchasii) in many host plants - restricted from Mysore, Madras and Kerala to any other states
2.San jose scale ( Quadraspidiotus perniciosus) in many host plant species - restricted from Punjab,UP,Madras,WB,Assam,Orissa,HP,J&K to any other parts of India
3.Banana Mosaic virus in Banana plants - restricted from Maharashtra and Gujarat to any other state and Union Territory
