• French bean, Phaseolus vulgaris, is originated in central and South America
• Hyacinth bean originated in India
• In cluster bean  Mucilaginous seed flour is used for making guar gum (galactomannan)
• Arka Komal is bush variety of french bean introduced from Afganistan , released by IIHR
• Most beans  are self pollinated with exception of Phaseolus coccineus ie Coccinia being cross pollinated
